Symphogen A/S was recently acquired by Servierand has entered an exciting expansion phase as Servier’s  Antibody Center of Excellence. As Principal Scientist at Symphogen you will, together with the Antibody Technology team, be responsible for all recombinant single B cell workflows and antibody engineering needed to support the discovery projects.

The main objective for you will be to innovate molecular biology processes for recombinant antibody repertoire cloning and engineering using the human antibody transgenic animals and high throughput single B cell cloning workflows. This is a senior level position that requires solid scientific expertise, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team-oriented culture where knowledge sharing and idea generation with peers is key for advancing next generation antibody therapeutics.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver scientific impact within design and execution of existing and novel workflows for antibody discovery
  • Perform antibody engineering approaches like e.g. IgG Fc/isotype optimization or other optimizations
  • Communicate results in clear and effective manner to senior management
  • Implement novel antibody formats or workflows for multi-specific antibodies
  • Coordinate activities within focus group
  • Help junior staff build key skills and further develop their careers
  • Supervise one lab technician and one student 

Your qualifications within antibody related experience makes you a role model and a scientific trendsetter, and your excellent oral and written communication skills are exemplified in public presentations, publications and patent applications. You are excellent at working effectively and goal oriented in a multi-disciplinary setting with many different priorities. 

You have a Ph.D. degree in immunology, molecular biochemistry, or other related biological science combined with several years of post-doctoral antibody related experience and a minimum of 5 years industry experience in antibody related research. You have solid molecular biology experience with antibody repertoire cloning approaches and particular experience with primer and vector design is key for this position. 

Further experience with one of the following areas will be an advantage:

  • Antibody humanization
  • Next generation sequencing (NGS) analysis
  • Optimizing antibody genes for good drug properties and low immunogenicity
  • Synthetic antibody libraries (phage or yeast display)
  • CLC Genomics Workbench, Genedata Biologics or similar software
