Leader in developing recombinant polyclonal antibodies

Symphogen is the leader in developing recombinant polyclonal antibodies (rpAb), a new class of biopharmaceuticals for the treatment or prophylaxis of serious human diseases. By employing its pioneering antibody discovery and manufacturing technologies, Symphogen generates recombinant antibody compositions that capture the diversity and effectiveness of the natural immune system. Symphogen’s pipeline of product candidates and development programs address large and growing markets, such as the replacement of plasma-derived immunoglobulins, oncology, and a broad range of infectious diseases.

Symphogen’s lead candidate, Sym001 (anti-RhD) for the treatment of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) and prevention of Hemolytic Disease in Newborns (HDN), became the first recombinant rpAb to enter clinical evaluation when Phase 1 trials were initiated in March of 2007.

Symphogen has built a risk-diversified project portfolio, balancing technological, biological and commercial risks. As a result, Symphogen has focused its initial drug discovery and development efforts on the replacement of existing plasma-derived immunoglobulin products. This strategy offers a number of advantages with respect to regulatory approval and overall risk-management, due to the existence of established clinical proof-of-concept from marketed products.Symphogen is also developing therapeutic alternatives to monoclonal antibodies.
