Market
RSV is a major cause of hospitalization in premature children, healthy infants less than six months of age and in children with pre-disposed heart and lung diseases or underlying immune deficiency. Immunocompromised adults and elderly individuals with chronic lung disease are also at risk. The dominant product on the market today is an anti-RSV humanized murine monoclonal antibody, and it is indicated for prophylaxis in high-risk infants only. Additionally, because polyclonal antibodies can provide a more diverse immune response than monoclonal antibodies, while still maintaining a high level of specificity, they may be a more effective treatment option for this infection. Symphogen believes that its recombinant anti-RSV polyclonal antibodies have the potential to expand prophylactic treatment to a greater portion of the at-risk population.

Status
The Sym003 project is in the preclinical phase.
