As Director, Head of Antibody Technology at Symphogen, you will have an essential purpose of providing daily operational and long-term strategic leadership for the Antibody Technology Department, currently a team of 15-18 highly skilled team members, securing high performance, strong team spirit and high engagement.
With direct report to Senior Vice President, Biologics Drug Design, Research.
Your main tasks include but are not limited to:
Management
- Provide daily operational leadership for the Antibody Technology Department
- Performance management, salary regulations, training, and talent developmentEnsure a high degree of cross-organizational communications, including towards the Servier R&D organization, to align team activities with overall company goals and needs
- Participate in budgeting and budget-follow-up activities as defined by the Finance Team
- Represent the department and Symphogen/Servier at scientific meetings with scientific presentations etc.
Antibody Technology
- Responsible for antibody discovery activities, including B-cell-derived antibody repertoire generation, transient protein expression and purification, immunogenicity risk prediction, antibody engineering, assay and process automation, biosensor core facility, bioinformatics, and next-generation sequencing
- Securing timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables and support to early platform innovation work
- Provide scientific and technical evaluations and recommendations to support Symphogen/Servier’s biologics technology and format strategy, including bispecific antibody discovery platforms to maintain a state-of-the-art antibody discovery platform
- Accountable for the implementation, maintenance, and supervision of appropriate procedures and guidelines to secure the optimal execution of tasks in the function, including for laboratory notebooks
Your qualifications are minimum a PhD and several years of postdoctoral research with documentation of excellent research work from the immuno-oncology field. Moreover, you have +5 years of relevant scientific experience within antibody technology and industrial drug development in biotech/pharma. This, ideally, includes experience with different antibody formats. Preferably, you also have 2-3 years of managerial experience, e.g., from relevant line and/or project team leadership roles. Experience with CRO collaboration is an advantage.
