Senior/Principal Scientist for Downstream Process Development

Back to Careers

Symphogen is in an exciting phase as the Antibody Center of Excellence in Servier. Its continued focus is developing antibody-based therapeutic products for treating cancer and neuro-inflammatory diseases. They are looking for a collaborative and driven Senior/Principal Scientist with expertise in downstream bioprocessing to join the drug substance development group.

With direct report to the Manager of the Purification Team, you will take the scientific lead across key projects in the portfolio to develop and characterize purification processes for drug candidates in both early and late-stage development. The work will be performed in collaboration with colleagues in Denmark and France and strategic partners at external CMOs.

Your main tasks are:

  • Downstream process development: Design and characterization of robust and scalable purification processes for new antibody-based modalities in various stages of clinical development.
  • Ensuring technology transfer: Technical transfer to CMOs and oversight of outsourced activities.
  • Being an activity lead: Communicate project status internally and externally and ensure seamless progress to achieve project objectives.
  • Downstream development strategy: Contribute to the development strategy for next-generation antibody formats such as bispecific antibodies and ADCs.
  • Regulatory compliance: Support writing and keeping regulatory documentation up to date.
  • Subject matter expert: Identify and implement recent technologies for the optimization of purification processes and workflows.

Your qualifications are hands-on experience in the downstream process development of antibody products, along with knowledge of cGMP manufacturing requirements, regulatory submissions, and oversight of outsourced activities. Furthermore, knowledge of bioconjugation is highly important, and your familiarity with this area enhances your ability to contribute to the development of innovative biopharmaceutical products.

You have a qualifying academic/scientific degree supported by relevant experience within pharmaceuticals, biologics or similar.

You are a person who excels as a collaborative team player and who adopts a diplomatic and cooperative approach when working with global cross-functional teams. With strong communication skills, you effectively simplify technical issues for diverse audiences.

Being part of Symphogen, you will have a challenging job in a creative, goal-oriented, and value-based environment with a meaningful mission: to advance superior monoclonal antibody therapeutics to improve the lives of cancer patients. You will be a part of a highly engaged and inspiring organisation focusing on diversity, teamwork, commitment – and on you as a person. You will be offered good development opportunities and a relevant benefit package.

Travelling: Limited. Up to ten days per year.

Domicile: Ballerup, in the outer Copenhagen area, Denmark.
