Principal Bioinformatic Scientist, Antibody Technology

Back to Careers

Symphogen has entered an exciting phase as the Antibody Center of Excellence in Servier with a continued focus on the discovery and early development of novel antibody-based therapeutic products for the treatment of cancer and  inflammatory/autoimmune diseases.

To help Symphogen on this mission, the Antibody Technology department has a unique new opening for a creative and motivated Principal Bioinformatic Scientist to drive data analysis and pipeline development at Symphogen to facilitate

the discovery and clinical development of Symphogen’s next generation antibody-based drug candidates.

With direct report to the Director, Head of Antibody Technology, you will become the go-to subject-matter expert collaborating with science teams and academics across the entire organisation.

Your main tasks are (but are not limited to):

  • Independently develop and implement bioinformatics strategies to enhance antibody discovery processes, including machine learning/generative intelligence applications.
  • Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and techniques for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data of antibody libraries.
  • Interpret complex biological data to provide insights into antibody function and target biology.
  • Design and implement novel algorithms for the analysis of antibody sequence data, structure-function relationships, and developability optimisation.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticians and other scientists from both Symphogen and Servier to integrate computational and experimental approaches.
  • Provide bioinformatics support, education and guidance to interdisciplinary teams working on antibody discovery projects.
  • Design, establish, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of diverse antibody data sets.

Your qualifications include a strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning applied to biological data from the industry. To thrive in the position, you have experience with bioinformatics tools and databases and have

been working in high-performance computational environments.

You have knowledge of sample management registration and expertise in next-generation sequencing analysis (NGS) and software for automated sequence annotation and developability assessment. Ideally, you have some management

experience, e.g. from team leader positions.

You probably have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Structural Biology, Computational Biology, or a related field. You are fluent in English, orally and in writing, and proficient in programming languages (e.g., Python, R).

You are a person with a strategic mindset and an independent and proactive character, and you perceive yourself as a great collaborator who enjoys working with a collaborative and diplomatic approach to global cross-functional teams. You have great communication skills and can translate technical issues in simple ways to different target audiences.

Finally, you bring professional pride and quality to the table and value excellent personal integrity in a multi-faceted environment.

As Principal Bioinformatic Scientist at Symphogen, you will have significant opportunities to influence strategic decisions in an inspiring and growing organisation that focuses on diversity, teamwork, commitment, and personal growth.
