Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior/Principal Scientist to join the Cell Biology and Screening department. You will be responsible for designing and analyzing in vitro experiments to support the advancement of our antibody-based pre-clinical programs.

Your main tasks are (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of assays needed for functional screening and characterization of antibody repertoires and lead candidates within the areas of cancer biology, immune-oncology, and inflammation.
  • Be part of cross-functional project teams and collaborate closely with other departments to advance our drug discovery projects from target identification to early clinical development.
  • Stay abreast of scientific literature and emerging trends and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new methodologies and technologies.
  • Responsible for planning daily work activities in collaboration with laboratory technicians.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare documentation, and present findings to stakeholders at Symphogen and Servier.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, we imagine that you have:

  • Ph.D. in cancer biology, immunology, or immuno-oncology, or a related field, and ideally 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of experimental methodologies and the ability to develop target-specific assays within the field of tumor biology or immuno-oncology.
  • Experience in a wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques such as multiparameter flow cytometry, ELISA, internalization, cytotoxicity, and apoptosis assays.
  • Proficiency in English and good presentation skills.
  • A collaborative spirit and capable of building and maintaining networks within and outside the organization.
  • Prior experience working with antibody-therapeutics (e.g., bispecifics or ADCs) and/or experience with the drug discovery process is beneficial.

On the personal level, you have an innovative and goal-oriented mindset with a commitment to meet deadlines. You have a high degree of drive and pro-activeness with the ability to adjust quickly to new tasks, and is comfortable working in a cross-functional, and complex project-based environment.

About the Cell Biology and Screening department

The Cell Biology and Screening department comprises 16 highly skilled technicians and scientists. We use state-off the art in vitro techniques and technologies to support our programs throughout the entire pre-clinical phase i.e., functional screening and characterization of lead candidates as well as mode of action studies on the final lead antibody. Our department is a part of the Biologics Drug Design (BDD) area at Symphogen, working closely together with other disciplines in R&D, such as CMC and the therapeutic areas located at the Servier headquarters in Paris.

Travelling: Limited. Approximately 10 days per year, primarily to the Servier headquarters in Paris
